A vegan and champion bodybuilder, Cheeke will be in DC on Monday, August 2, to discuss how to get killer calves without killing calves.  </p>

Following his talk, Cheeke will sign your copy and answer any fitness and bodybuilding questions you might have.  Vegan Bodybuilding &amp; Fitness is Cheeke&#8217;s first book and is based on over ten years of experience in vegan bodybuilding. City Council hosted a presentation of its newly adopted <a href="/photos/events/10/0629-res.pdf">&#8220;DC Meat-Free Monday&#8221; Ceremonial Resolution</a>. The resolution, which highlights the benefits of adding more fruits and vegetables to our diets and encourages residents to &#8220;abstain from animal products on Mondays,&#8221; was introduced by Councilmember Yvette Alexander (Ward 7) last month and adopted by the entirety of the D.C. City Council.</p>
<p>Following the Council&#8217;s presentation, <a href="http://cok.net" target="_blank">Compassion Over Killing</a> dished out over 100 free meatless meals for D.C. City Council Members, staff, interns, and others in attendance of the event. The all-vegan meal included vegan fettuccini alfredo with &#8220;chicken&#8221; and Caesar salad.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Since <a href="http://great-sage.com" target="_blank">Great Sage</a> will have the honor of being the first to offer the new award winning Tofurky Pizzas, they thought it would be fun to throw a party and call it VeganFest! Which will aslo be a charity event for <a href="http://cok.net" target="_blank">Compassion Over Killing</a>.</p>
<p><strong>$20 advance entrance fee ($25 at the door) and that all goes to COK</strong>. For the $20/$25 you will receive free pizza, cake, and coconut ice cream (and some other vegan treats to be named later). There will be a cash bar. There will be a band from 7:30-9:30, also to be named later.</p>

<p><a href="http://dunkincruelty.com/vote/vegan-donut-contest">Vote</a> for your favorite creation and the winning donut will be hand crafted by Vegan Treats and available for a limited time in it&#8217;s bakery. Polls close Friday, May 21st and the winner will be announced in June. By voting, you will be automatically entered into a random drawing to win ten different prizes, from t-shirts to books! </p>

The menu features Bread &amp; Brews popular vegan menu items, such as the vegan mushroom florentine. There are also new specials, including a vegan &#8220;steak and cheese&#8221; sandwich. Yum!</p>
