Pets with Disabilities is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization located in Prince Fredrick, Maryland. The organization’s goal is to help physically disabled dogs and cats find loving homes. Pets with Disabilities was founded by Joyce Darrell and husband Michael Dickerson in 2000 when there puppy Duke broke his back and they didn’t know where to turn for help. They started Pets with Disabilities as a resource for other owners of disabled animals and the organization quickly grew. Not only does Pets with Disabilities help disabled dogs and cats find the homes they deserve, Pets with Disabilities is committed to educating the public on rescue dogs and cats. You may volunteer, foster or visit (by appointment only). Even though Pets with Disabilities is quite a drive for most of the DC Vegan readers, I still wanted to share this wonderful organization.

Pets with Disabilities is having an open house on October 24th from 12:00-5:00PM in celebration of Dukes 10th birthday. If you would like more information, I’d be happy to send you the flier for the event. Just send me an e-mail: michelle@dcvegan.com.
