The plates will read “vegetarian” or “vegan” and will feature reasons as to why people live their lives veg.

($20.00 fee for personalized plates) to:

This is awesome. It’s almost enough to make me wish I had a car and lived in the ‘burbs.
i’m so glad you are having this event. unfortunately i am out of town until august 8th or else i would totally attend! i need to get into the dc vegan scene more, i haven’t been doing much besides cooking on my own/with friends, blogging and trying out new restaurants. honestly, i wasn’t impressed with bread & brew. i thought their food lacked that little something extra. it was just okay for me.
Damn – almost makes me wish I:
a.) still lived in Virginia
2.) still had a car.
That’s beyond cool.
This is so very cool! Hope my state implements something like this.
I hope they get the sign-up quota!
I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before other states follow suit. (I Hope) Great idea!
I would totally get one. If they will look as pictured above – they’re really cute.
Cheers!
Missy – why don’t you start one in your own state!! Just go to your state’s DMV web site, and they’ll have all the info you need to get a new special plate designed and approved. If you want to write to me at VeggiePlates@live.com, I can send you the material we worked with, and the process we used.

How did you manage to get this done? I would like to try to do this in Iowa.

You can check out Iova’s DMV web site for info on how to get a new special plate approved. If you’d like to see the process we used, send me an e-mail at VeggiePlates@live.com and I’ll send you some of our info!

Thanks for all the great comments!! I would like to make one correction – the plates will read “Vegetarian”. We can’t sponsor 2 different plates, unfortunately! There are some great “Vegan” bumperstickers out there to make things clear to whoever’s reading your “message” – cafepress.com has some at http://bumperstickers.cafepress.com/vegan_stickers.
