COK Launches MTV Ad Campaign

Two of COK’s best Ad campaigns will soon be on rotation on MTV. The two ads that will be on played are “Exploring Your Food” and “A Side of Truth“, and will be aired for 5 weeks. Both of the ad will direct viewers to COK’s TryVeg.com website where they will be able to learn more about vegetarianism and get a free Vegetarian Starter Guide.

I think “Exploring Your Food” is a good one. I read somewhere (Slate maybe) that the smoking Truth ads were most successful when they didn’t feature people in the targeted age set and instead had things like cartoon dogs as the protagonist. Apparently, when we watch ads, we look to see how disimilar people are to us — ie, he’s not like me because he’s fatter or shorter or doesn’t wear a cool shirt, so cigarettes are ok for me even if they’re not for him. I think the little girl and the grainy vintage style will work to circumvent judgments like that.
