veganizing the world–one pizzeria at a time!

When most people think of Washington, DC they think politics—past and present. Visitors marvel at the Washington monument, stand at the gates of the White House and stroll around the National Mall. Yes, the nation’s capital is indeed rich with politics and history, but it’s also brimming with some of the hottest and tastiest spots for vegan eats.  Add RedRocks Firebrick Pizzeria to your list!

After working with Compassion Over Killing, RedRocks Firebrick Pizzeria has added Teese vegan cheese, from Chicago Soy Dairy, to its menu!  Voted one of the “Best Bets” for pizza in the D.C.-metro area by editors of The Washington Post in 2008, RedRocks features classic Neapolitan style pizza in the heart of Columbia Heights–just two blocks from Sticky Fingers Bakery. Enjoy a delicious vegan pizza and then stroll over to your favorite vegan bakery for dessert.

    VERY cool!

I’m guessing they checked to see if the dough and sauces are vegan too?

  2. Noelle says:

Yes their dough and sauce is vegan. The owner, manager and staff (a few of which are vegan) are very familiar with what vegan means and they’re excited about offering animal-friendly options.

  3. binklesworth says:

After reading this on the blueberry on the metro home, had to stop in for a beer and thank them personally for this. A waitress overheard me and high-fived me.
Before going full-tilt vegan I’d stop in there every now and then and order 2-3 happy hour cheese pizzas and go through them myself. Now I can do that again!

    Cheers!
